What Is Mastering in FL Studio?
Mastering in FL Studio on Windows is the final processing stage applied to your complete stereo mix before export. Mastering effects are loaded onto the Master channel (Mixer track 1), which receives the combined output of all other Mixer tracks.
A mastering chain typically includes a broadband EQ for tonal balance, a compressor or multiband compressor for dynamic control, and a true peak limiter for output ceiling control. Mastering presets load this entire chain onto the Master channel in one action.
What Stock FL Plugins Are Used in Mastering Presets?
All mastering presets in this collection use stock FL Studio plugins available in every FL Studio installation on Windows. The chain uses Parametric EQ 2 for tonal shaping (sub-bass tightening, mid-range balance, high-shelf air boost), Maximus for multiband compression and loudness maximisation, and Fruity Limiter for true peak ceiling control.
No third-party paid plugins are required. The entire mastering chain resolves from a standard FL Studio installation.
Setting Output Loudness in FL Studio for Streaming
Streaming platforms normalise audio to approximately -14 LUFS. Excessively loud masters are turned down by the platform's normalisation, so extremely high loudness does not benefit final playback loudness on streaming services.
For streaming delivery, set the Fruity Limiter output ceiling to -1.0 dBFS and target approximately -14 LUFS integrated loudness in your export. Use FL Studio's export preview or a free LUFS meter plugin to check your loudness before finalising.
How to Load a Mastering Preset in FL Studio
Open the FL Studio Mixer with F9 on Windows. Click the Master channel (track 1 at the far left of the Mixer). Right-click the track name area and select Load state, or use the arrow icon at the top-left of the track. Navigate to the mastering preset .fst file and select it. The complete mastering chain loads onto the Master bus immediately.
Adjust the Fruity Limiter input gain to achieve your target loudness. Then export your project using FL Studio's export function (F5 → Save → Export as WAV or MP3).
